The PetSTEP

HOW WE UNKNOWINGLY CONTRIBUTE TO OUR PETS' INJURIES -MINIMIZE PET JOINT PROBLEMS WITH THE PetSTEP
Our loving animals are not born with arthritis or dysplasia and we can help to prevent them from developing these diseases by utilizing the PetSTEP. The PetStep prevents them from jumping from high places before they have had time to exercise and warm up. By utilizing the PetSTEP from the time you dog is a puppy can go a long way in preventing problems when she is older.
By allowing our dogs to jump down from high places, we encourage injuries. Dogs were never meant to jump down from SUVs, pickups or high beds. Imagine what would happen to us if we consistently were forced to jump down from our kitchen table or desk. The PetSTEP provides an alternative.
A runner or jogger would never begin their run without proper warm up exercises! This is exactly what we ask our furry friends to do each and every time we ask them to jump from a tailgate. They will do anything we ask of them because they love and trust us without reservation.
Imagine you have been in your car for a long period of time. You wouldn't just open the door and start running without walking for awhile to get your muscles warmed up and flexible. The same is true with your pet. After your pet has been in your vehicle for an extended time, his muscles are cold and stiff, yet we open the hatch or gate and command them to jump! Leaping from the vehicle with stiff, cold muscles can cause severe trauma and damage! The PetSTEP can easily prevent this

TRAINING TIPS
Some dogs will take to the PetSTEP immediately. For those that don't, we suggest you put the ramp flat on the ground & walk your dog over it (a reward placed on the ramp also helps or you might try feeding him (her) on the ramp once or twice). When you raise the ramp, your pets favorite treat placed towards the top of the ramp also works the first time.
The first time up the ramp, take your dog by the collar & lead him to the reward. You'll only need to do this once or twice. It is important to take your dog for a ride after he has successfully entered the vehicle.

VEHICLE SAFETY
The PetSTEP, should not be placed loose in the compartment with your pet. Any loose object in a vehicle becomes a missile in a sudden stop. It is best to simply tuck the PetSTEP behind your driver's seat where it is safe and handy for you. You should also not place the PetSTEP flat on the back seat, as this presents similar problems in a quick stop. You and your pet's safety is our number one concern.
